UK makes 2 arrests in migrant Channel crossings

LONDON (AP) — British officers say two males have been arrested on suspicion of smuggling migrants from France to England by sea.

The Nationwide Crime Company stated late Wednesday {that a} 33-year-old Iranian citizen and a 24-year-old British man have been arrested in Manchester.

The boys are being questioned however haven’t been charged or recognized. They’re suspected of smuggling migrants throughout the English Channel in small boats.

The arrests are the primary since Britain’s House Secretary Sajid Javid declared an increase in migrant crossings to be a “main incident.” He’s contemplating asking the Royal Navy to assist patrol the Channel.

Javid says about 230 migrants tried to cross the English Channel in December. Officers have blamed the inflow on smuggling gangs.
